Pitches and Blue Pencils

There is no cost to attend the Wine Country Writer’s Festival. This includes the Keynote speaker and all the Saturday classes. But you still must register.

Pitch sessions will be limited at one-per-person. First Come-First Serve.

Six Minute Pitch

Sam Hiyate of The Rights Factory $25

Interested in: Business, Commercial Upmarket Fiction, Crime, Cross-Genre, Graphica, Food, Health, Lifestyle, Literary Fiction, Memoir, Mystery, Self-Improvement, Thriller

JM Landels and Melanie Anastasiou of Pulp Literature Press: $25

Interested in most genres including but not limited to mystery, science fiction & fantasy, thriller, horror, contemporary, and literary fiction.  We do not accept children’s books, erotica, memoir, or non-fiction. We’ve got a strong preference for books by and about underrepresented groups, and we love works with a feminist slant.

At the moment we are only accepting novels from Canadian authors, and we are hoping to see more from underrepresented writers.

Any monies received by Pulp Literature Press for pitches will go to supporting non-profit press

Jim Jackson of Prairie Soul Press: $25

Prairie Soul Press (formerly Kouros Publications) stands for truth, community and story. We look to find and promote authors from the Canadian Prairies and elsewhere whose work speaks truth through a captivating story and who are plugged into their local writing communities.

We publish multiple genres, but focus on works dealing with mythology, cultural exploration and the craft of writing

Any fees collected and allocated to WCWF will be used to set up a Scholarship Fund so attendees who can’t afford the fees will have the opportunity to apply. Announcements will be made after the Festival as to how many will be available for next year (2022).
